How do I book a Skype session?
Firstly, contact the counsellor via email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a time for an initial 30minute session.
What happens next?
Once a time has been confirmed, the counsellor will send you a copy of the counselling agreement and an initial assessment form. This agreement outlines areas such as confidentiality, code of ethics and cancellation policy. The initial assessment form enables you to supply some personal information needed before counselling can commence.
How much does it cost?
The first initial session will last for 30mins and is free. This session is to check all technical equipment is working and that you feel comfortable with online counselling.
Subsequent sessions will be charged at £25 and will be 50mins in duration.
Payment is taken via paypal and the counsellor will send you a link to make your payment prior to the first session.
Online counselling: Factors to consider.
You must be aged 18 or over.
Skype counselling is not suitable for those who are at risk of suicide, in acute crisis, or have serious mental health issues; there are limits to what a counsellor can do remotely. In such cases, your GP is always your first port of call.
Couples counselling is not offered.
For Skype counselling, you need a high-speed broadband connection, plus a web cam and microphone on your computer.
You have to ensure you can be online at the appointed time, in a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted or overheard.
Technical difficulties and glitches can occur! If for any reason the session is interrupted, the counselor will contacted you via email or phone and arrange another time to try again.
